The Cooperative Identity, Values & Principles

Barbaza Multi-Purpose Cooperative is an affiliate of the Antique Federation of Cooperatives (AFCCUI) , Visayas Cooperative Development Center (VICTO) and National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATCCO). It adheres to the cooperative values based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equity and solidarity. the members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and caring for others.

Barbaza Multi-Purpose Cooperative has adopted as general guidelines for its actions the following cooperative principles as defined by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA):

1. Voluntary and Open Membership
Barbaza Multi-Purpose Cooperative is a voluntary organization, open to all persons able to use the services and willing to accept the responsibility of membership without gender, social, racial, political or religious discrimination.


2. Democratic Member Control
Barbaza Multi-Purpose Cooperative is democratic organization controlled by the members who actively participate in setting policies and making decisions. Men and women serving as elected representative are accountable to the membership. Members have equal voting rights (one member, one vote).


3. Member Economic Participation
Members contribute equitably to, and democratically control, the capital of the cooperative. At least part of that capital is usually the common property of the cooperative. Members received limited compensation, if any, on capital subscribed as a condition of membership.


4. Autonomy and Independence
Barbaza Multi-Purpose Cooperative is an autonomous, self-help organization controlled by the members. If entering into agreements with other organizations including governments, or raise capital from external sources, do so on terms that ensure democratic control by their members and maintain its cooperative autonomy.


5. Education, Training and Information
BMPC provides education and training for the members, elected representatives, managers, and employees, so they can contribute effectively to the development of the cooperative. They inform the general public-particularly young people and also leaders-about the nature and benefits of cooperation.


6. Cooperation among Cooperatives
BMPC serves the members most effectively and strengthens the cooperative movement by working together through local, regional, national and international structures.


7. Concerns for the Community
BMPC is working for sustainable development of the communities through policies approved by the members.

Membership Segmentation

Membership Segmentation Criteria
A.      CLASS DIAMOND
            Criteria:
1.       At least five (5) years as a regular member.
2.       Share capital of at least P15,000.00 with additional deposit of at least P500.00 annually for the last two (2) years.
3.       Attended the District Assembly at least once for the last two (2) years.
4.       Attended at least 50% of the Ownership/MES in a year for the last two (2) years.
5.       Regular monthly savings deposit of at least P50.00 or P150.00 in a quarter for the last two (2) years.
6.       No loan amortization in default for the last two (2) years.
Privileges:
1.       Qualified on all loan windows as provided in the lending guidelines.
2.       No collateral required on all loans P50,000.00 and below over the share capital.
3.       Loan approval at management level.
4.       Qualified to vote and seek any elective position.
5.       Free COLISAP contribution on COLISAP 30K.
6.       Can avail the FAXCOM Loan.
7.       Hospitalization benefit of P300.00 per day for a maximum of five (5) days for a confinement of at least three (3) days which can be availed once a year.

B.      CLASS GOLD
            Criteria:
1.       At least four (4) years as a regular member.
2.       Share capital of at least P10,000.00 with additional deposit of at least P350.00 annually for the last two (2) years.
3.       Attended the District Assembly at least once for the last two (2) years.
4.       Attended at least 50% of the Ownership/MES in a year for the last two (2) years.
5.       Regular monthly savings deposit of at least P30.00 or P90.00 in a quarter for the last two (2) years.
6.       No loan amortization in default for more than thirty (30) days for the last two (2) years.
Privileges:
1.       Qualified on all loan windows as provided in the lending guidelines.
2.       No collateral required on all loans P30,000.00 and below over the share capital.
3.       Loan approval at management level.
4.       Qualified to vote and seek any elective position.
5.       COLISAP contribution of 50% on COLISAP 30K.
6.       Can avail the FAXCOM Loan.
7.       Hospitalization benefit of P200.00 per day for a maximum of five (5) days for a confinement of at least three (3) days which can be availed once a year.

C.      CLASS SILVER
            Criteria:
1.       At least three (3) years as a regular member.
2.       Share capital of at least P5,000.00 with additional deposit of at least P200.00 annually for the last two (2) years.
3.       Attended the District Assembly at least once for the last two (2) years.
4.       Attended at least 50% of the Ownership/MES in a year for the last two (2) years.
5.       Regular monthly savings deposit of at least P20.00 or P60.00 in a quarter for the last two (2) years.
6.       No loan amortization in default for more than three (3) months or has matured for more than thirty (30) days for the last two (2) years.
Privileges:
1.       Qualified on all loan windows as provided in the lending guidelines.
2.       No collateral required on all loans P10,000.00 and below over the share capital.
3.       Loan approval at management level.
4.       Qualified to vote and seek any elective position.
5.       Hospitalization benefit of P100.00 per day for a maximum of five (5) days for a confinement of at least three (3) days which can be availed once a year.

Barbaza MPC wins First Place at Gawad Pitak of LANDBANK of the Philippines


LANDBANK hails cooperatives in its 2013 Gawad PITAK

August 8, 2013 – As part of marking its 50th anniversary, LANDBANK recognized the country’s outstanding cooperatives in its annual Gawad sa Pinakatanging Kooperatiba (Gawad PITAK) in ceremonies at the LANDBANK Plaza in Malate, Manila.

Finance Secretary and LANDBANK Chairman Cesar V. Purisima and LANDBANK President and CEO Gilda E. Pico led the conferment of the awards.

Now on its 23rd year, the Gawad PITAK is a pioneering program that searches and recognizes exemplary LANDBANK-assisted agri and non-agri based cooperatives. The award provides special recognition in various areas of excellence in their operations, and promotes best practices for adoption. This year’s award introduced the Platinum Category which is the highest under the Gawad PITAK.

“Our celebration of our golden anniversary is made more meaningful with the conferment of awards to outstanding cooperatives that excel in their areas of operation, and thus contribute to a robust economy,” LANDBANK president and CEO Gilda E. Pico said.


Winners under the Non Agri-Based Category are:
1st Place – Barbaza MPC in Barbaza, Antique:P300,000;
2nd Place – Watchlife Workers MPC in Mariveles, Bataan: P250,000;
3rd Place – Socorro Empowered People’s Co-op in Socorro, Surigao del Norte: P200,000;
4th Place – Iwahori MPC in Mariveles, Bataan: P150,000;
5th Place – NIA Region IV Employees MPC in Pila, Laguna: P100,000
